Painting with Light

Painting with light is such a fun way to shoot with a camera. This kind of photography is a great way in trying to create abstract forms of light where people may not know exactly what it is. You can create an image with just using different kinds of lights and making a light painting. With whatever light that you use to create your image can be of words that you write or of pictures like a heart and other stuff. When I get the chance to do this kind of photo, I enjoy it and get very excited to shoot this kind of image. By doing this I set my Olympus E-420 camera up on a tripod in a dark room, with no kind of light coming through, having the camera pointing towards a wall and a wall that had a window on it with blinds while having the blinds closed. To create the blue light, I used a pen that had a laser point and blue light put into the pen in it. The shutter speed I had my camera set to was BULB with an f-stop 5.6. The first of my photos I took I had my camera shooting towards a wall in a dark room writing words and making designs with the laser point and blue light. I was writing my son's name in the laser point and then I was making dots with the blue light and tracing the outside of the blue circles with the laser point light. I had tried many different ideas but didn't like them a whole lot. Then while I was shooting I saw my blinds moving slightly due to the fan being on. So then I thought it would be cool to shoot those with making designs on the blinds with the two lights I had been using. The photo I choose was one when I was shooting towards the blinds and then used the blue light to make it look like lights on the blinds. I like how the blue light on each blind makes it look like it is a light pole on them with the light shining down. The photo looks like it could be of a street with the light poles on the side of the road during the night time.
